Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Sales Director to lead and optimize the profit center dedicated to the sale of new vehicles at Repentigny Chevrolet Buick GMC. You will be responsible for maintaining clientele, profitability, and performance of the service, effectively managing human resources, and demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of the market, performance standards, and sector-specific break-even points.
Main Responsibilities
- Forecast monthly and annual sales objectives, gross revenue, and essential expenses for the new car sales department.
- Prepare and manage the annual operating budget for the new car sales department.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up with all potential buyers by creating, implementing, and closely monitoring a customer search and sales control system.
- Create, implement, and monitor a system for tracking new car buyers.
- Provide your supervisor with accurate daily data on activity control on the sales floor.
- Check inventory daily to ensure proper stock levels and effective rotation.
- Evaluate all incoming used cars, verify that titles are compliant, and inspect mechanical condition and bodywork.
- Collaborate with the sales team on programs that increase gross revenue from new cars and enhance after-sales marketing penetration (financing and insurance).
- Ensure that all email inquiries receive a prompt response within the same day.
- Closely monitor activities related to lease renewals, analyze related reports, and submit recommendations to optimize the lease portfolio.
- Collaborate on designing advertising campaigns and various promotions.
- Establish and maintain standards related to vehicle delivery to customers.
- Ensure that at the time of delivery, the first after-sales appointment is scheduled.
- Assist the used cars department in conducting trade-in evaluations, if necessary.
- Analyze various reports related to customer satisfaction and propose recommendations for retention and loyalty.
- Plan and control vehicle display in the showroom and parking lot.
- Understand and comply with federal, provincial, and municipal regulations impacting the sale of new vehicles.
- Stay informed of current product updates, programs, and promotions from the manufacturer and/or financial institutions, and inform the sales team of any changes.
Tasks Related to Human Resources Management
- Lead daily and weekly sales team meetings and establish systems ensuring ongoing training of advisors.
- Train and motivate the team and participate in hiring in collaboration with management.
- Conduct formal performance evaluations at regular intervals.
- Assist salespeople in closing transactions and meet with clients if necessary.
- Ensure that new car sales advisors understand and adhere to dealership policies, procedures, and systems.
- Monitor efforts by salespeople to improve the company's image and customer satisfaction ratings.
- Encourage teamwork in a customer-focused sales environment.
- Ensure effective communication within the sales department and with other departments. Seek harmony and team spirit.
- Participate in directors’ meetings.
- Present oneself professionally.
- Perform other tasks as needed and as directed by management.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management/sales leadership role, ideally in the automotive sector.
- Strong leadership skills and proven experience in team management and development, results-oriented, and budget management.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret reports, performance indicators, CRM systems, and inventory management systems.
- Knowledge of regulations related to the sale of new vehicles and the ability to stay informed about product and promotional updates.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, customer service orientation, and client-focused attitude.
- Relevant degree in administration, business, or related field (an asset).
- Proficiency in French; knowledge of English can be an asset.
- Available for occasional travel and able to work flexible hours.
