Job Description
We are seeking an Assistant Controller to strengthen our financial team within a manufacturing site operating in the automotive sector. Under the direction of the Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability of financial information, controlling costs, and continuously improving processes. This position requires discretion and rigor in a dynamic economic environment.
Responsibilities
- Preparation & Analysis of Financial Statements: Ensure accuracy and compliance of monthly and annual balance sheets and income statements.
- Supervision of the Accounting Cycle: Manage monthly closings and reconciliations while respecting deadlines.
- Cost Control: Analyze variances, propose corrective actions, and monitor their implementation.
- Inventory Management: Optimize procedures to minimize inventory discrepancies.
- Budget Development: Participate in the annual budget and forecasts, analyze variances, and communicate results.
- Supervision: Coordinate a team of junior controllers, provide mentoring, and develop skills.
- Strengthening Internal Controls: Ensure compliance and facilitate audits.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work with operational teams to optimize costs and processes.
- Process Improvement: Lead automation and reporting initiatives to increase efficiency.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA certification or equivalent is a plus.
- Experience: At least 1 year as a Controller, ideally in the manufacturing/automotive sector.
- Skills: Strong analytical skills, rigor, leadership, and ability to work under pressure.
- Languages: Fluent in French with operational English.
- IT Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with an ERP/BI system.
- Knowledge: Good understanding of accounting and tax standards in Quebec and Canada.
